Kicking Off Summer with Crafty Joy, Family Moments, and Freebies Galore!
Can you believe it? It’s officially summer vacation here in sunny Charleston, South Carolina! As a busy momma of four beautiful and wildly energetic kiddos (ages 4 to 10), this season always feels like such a breath of fresh air—a time to hit pause, reset, and truly soak up the magic of being together.
Our school year wrapped up just a few short weeks ago, and we dove headfirst into summer with a little family tradition that has quickly become a favorite: our School’s Out Craft Activity Flags and Summer Bucket Lists. I can’t even begin to tell you how special it was. We gathered around the kitchen table, markers in hand, laughter echoing through the house, and hearts full of excitement. The kids had the best time brainstorming their summer must-dos—everything from “make popsicles” to “have a dance party in the rain.”
What really made it magical for me was how engaged they all were. It’s not always easy to find an activity that captures the attention of a 4-year-old and a 10-year-old at the same time, but this one did it! We crafted, dreamed, and created memories right there in the mess of paper scraps and spilled glitter. It was one of those rare moments where time slowed down just enough for me to breathe it all in and say, “This. This is what summer’s all about.”
